3 steps to massive blog traffic

At one point, the amount of traffic coming to my blog was pathetic. I knew that I had to do something to fix that problem and began studying. I was totally and completely focused on building a massive amount of targeted traffic to my blog.

In my studies, I realized that the first step was to “lazer target” my content to draw in traffic that was very specific and interested in my main topics. I did this by researching what questions were already being asked by my potential customers. I had a list of sites that they visited often and checked to see what they wanted to know. What questions were they asking? Once I had those answers, I had step one done and I was ready to go.

Step 2 was to create a feeling of community and start conversations on my blog. I began linking to my friends and competitors from my blog posts. This would give them a notification called a “trackback” in their comments for their blog posts. Once someone receives a trackback, the next logical step is to check out what is being said about you. If you say something they want to respond to, the conversation begins. This is a killer way to “steal” your competitor's audience right out from under their nose.

The other piece of the conversation happens on your blog. Reply to comments on posts you write! If you have people visiting your blog and talking, they are effectively making an attempt to talk to you. Take a few moments and respond to everyone that has something interesting to say.

The last step is to format your posts properly. Tags are key words that describe your posts, but they also serve a very important function when it comes to your blog. Categories basically do the same thing. Choose between 4 and 10 tags per blog post you create, also setup categories that contain the best keywords you are targeting on your blog. Each tag and category will get its own page.

Blog traffic is based around the idea of building a following and keeping them coming back for more. For the best blog traffic guide around, head over to The Traffic Manifesto 2.0 to get 79 methods of reaching more customers.
